Item Description
The Pokémon Card "1st Basic Expansion Pack," released in 2001, was the first pack to feature the same back design as the current Pokémon cards.
The series is notable for having codes printed on the cards that could be linked with gaming devices. In the Japanese version of Pokémon cards, the "1st ED" (First Edition) notation started with the Pokémon Card VS series. Depending on the card set, some cards have the "1st ED" notation while others do not (Unlimited Edition).
In the "1st Basic Expansion Pack," Unlimited Edition cards without the "1st ED" notation were not sold through general distribution and are extremely rare in the market.
As per PSA grading population reports, there are 762 total graded 1st Edition cards, with 474 graded as PSA 10. In contrast, there are only 19 total graded Unlimited Edition cards, with 9 graded as PSA 10, highlighting their rarity.
