Manhole cards are collectible cards created to promote awareness of manhole covers in Japan. In the past, the designs for the cards were selected through a screening process, but they are now issued through a registration system. The cards are distributed at specific locations and times designated by each municipality, and they are not sold commercially. Recently, many manhole covers featuring collaborations with anime and manga have been created, and these designs have also been included in the manhole card collection.
