This promo card was part of the "Starter Triple Get Campaign," held to commemorate the release of Pokémon Card e. Participants could apply for either the Red-Green Course or the Gold-Silver Course by collecting three entry tickets attached to the "Starter Pack" box of the Pokémon Card e series. The lottery was conducted in five rounds, with 5,000 winners selected for each course. Charizard was one of the three cards distributed to the winners of the Red-Green Course.
